The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted annually for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs at 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) across India. It is administered by the Consortium of National Law Universities, which comprises representative universities.

CLAT is one of the most prestigious and competitive law entrance exams in the country and is also accepted by many private universities and law schools for their admission process.

Eligibility Criteria for CLAT 2025

Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the following eligibility conditions:

 

For UG (LL.B) Program:

Qualification: Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).

Age Limit: No upper age limit.

Appearing Candidates: Students appearing in the qualifying exam in 2025 may also apply.

For PG (LL.M) Program:

Qualification: Must have completed LL.B or equivalent degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST).

 

Appearing Candidates: Final-year law students can also apply.

Note: Only certain NLUs offer the PG course through CLAT.
